Learn more about digestion and acne:
When it comes to healing acne, if the standard products and medications aren’t working for you, it’s time to dig deeper.
The heart of acne, the root cause, is often linked to systemic inflammation and hormonal issues. To heal acne, we need to get to the bottom of what is causing these problems for you.
If you often have an upset stomach, heart burn, gut aches, constipation and/or diarrhea, then your digestive problems are likely your biggest acne culprit.
HOW DIGESTION AFFECTS YOUR SKIN
Recent research shows a very strong connection between the health of the gut and the health of skin, it’s called the gut-skin axis. When people’s gut and digestive problems are treated, in many cases their skin conditions improve as well.
Digestive problems lead to local and systemic inflammation. If you have a lot of problems going with your digestive track your body responds with varying degrees of inflammation, and inflammation in the body is a major contributor to the acne process.
Gut distress also leads to hormonal imbalances. The process of digestion is controlled and regulated by hormones, and the gut is the body’s largest producer of hormones. Hormones have a very complex relationship, and a domino affect of imbalances can happen when things aren’t functioning properly. This imbalance can trigger more oil production and faster skin cell growth, causing more blocked pores.
That’s why it’s so important to address digestive problems if you want to heal your acne.
HOW TO IMPROVE DIGESTION AND SKIN
First and foremost, if you suspect you have any sort of serious digestion problem, please see a medical professional. Preferably one who specializes in healing the gut, not just masking symptoms. I am not a doctor. I cannot diagnose or treat any medical condition, and that is not what my aim is. I want to merely give you a starting point.
